This is a picture the stairs in my house. They lead to our 2 upstairs bed/bath rooms. Notice the location of the little pink fluffy sheep? This is merely a stunt double to take the place of my little monkey, who climbed up to the 5th step this morning all by herself! Lauren loves to climb these days, but she hasn't been on the steps since the first time she climbed up to the second step and fell (incurring her first ever boo-boo). So we haven't really bothered with the gate, thinking she wasn't interested in the steps.
However, this morning I was reading to Lauren on the couch in the living room. I set her down on the floor when we finished and walked over to put away the books in our basket. I heard Lauren crawling across the wood floor in the direction of our master bedroom, and I assumed that's where she was headed. I assumed wrong.
In the 5 second time span that it took me to put the books up, she had scaled those steps! I was hearing some heavy breathing and a little squeal, so I walked towards the bedroom to see what she was doing, and there she was, half way up the steps, sitting down and holding on for dear life to the wall. Oh my goodness!
Time for the gate! She's FAST!!

Wow! Go, Lauren! Just don't give your mama a heart attack! Emma scaled the three steps at my dad's a few months ago with no problem! It's amazing what they can do, isn't it? I showed Emma the video of Lauren and Emma was waving and talking to her!
