We started Friday off with about 2 inches of snowfall. Since Jason takes my car on days that we have snow (it's heavier and therefore less likely to slide around on the snowy/icy roads on his way to work!), we were basically trapped inside.
All day.
And the more you tell a 2 year old she can't go outside, the more she tends to beg.
And whine.
And cry.
And plead.
I finally gave in. When Kate went down for her nap, I grabbed the monitor and then bundled Lauren up like an Eskimo.
2 inches of snow is just enough for making snow balls and mini snowmen. Lauren thought it was funny to throw snowballs at mommy.
Mommy did not concur.
In about 20 minutes, we were frozen, so we came in to warm up and change into dry clothes. Lauren insisted that she was not tired and didn't need a nap. So I told her that she could have quiet time for an hour. When I came in to tell her it was time to get up, I felt like I was looking at a picture of "Where's Waldo?"
Oh! Here she is! Asleep on the floor.
Saturday Jason got to sleep in and then we all got dressed and went out to get Jason's hair cut and out to lunch at Real Hacienda; where Lauren consumed pounds of cheese.
After her nap, (yes, she's back to napping?) we took down the Christmas tree and now our living room looks so empty! :(
Sunday morning, I got to sleep in, and then we all got dressed and went to the 11:00 service at church. Lauren was really excited to go to her class, and when I came to pick her up, I peeked through the tinted window into her room to see what she was up to.
She was standing with one finger up her nose!
Lovely!
This is her new habit, and I am not loving it. I ask her if she needs a tissue every time I see her doing it, and I've even told her to stop because it's gross. I really don't think she even realizes she's sticking her finger up there!
The sermon was great again this morning. Our pastor is preaching from Romans 12 all this month, and this morning was about renewing your mind. It was just what we needed to hear!
Here is Lauren dressed for church. I was so excited to find this "dress coat" on ebay last summer for a steal. I thought it was so pretty with her little snowman dress. (her nursery teacher asked me if I had bought them together, because she thought they were so cute.)
She was giving me the "enough pictures, mommy" expression.
After lunch, and reading all 10 of Lauren's library books to her (she's obsessed) Lauren napped, and I went to Rite Aid for some free cereal and a few other really good deals. If you don't already follow Collin's blog , here is the link. She does all the hard work for you as far as matching the sales with coupons!!
Then tonight I went to the first meeting of
Chicks Like Us (our church is one of the first to host this new group for women!)
It was great! They discuss all kinds of things pertinent to women, this month's topic being "family planning." Tonight's speakers talked about planned and unplanned pregnancies and shared their stories. As a group we laughed and cried! It was so nice to be able to fellowship with other women from all different walks of life.
I really like our church, and if we move from Owensboro, this will be something that I will really miss! But I won't think about that for now, because as of this moment, we aren't going anywhere! :) So, I'll enjoy this church and these new friends while we're here!
