crocodile hair

Mom and Susie came over Monday night because we needed to celebrate mom's 57th bday that was the day before. We had a pretty good (and simple) dinner and a birthday carrot cake. Susie and Mom wanted to participate in Lauren's bath time....which ended in Lauren's hair closely resembling that of a crocodile. Thanks, aunt Susie...she's a fashionista! :)

baby it's cold!

Yesterday we went to my "cousin" Kim's wedding in Nashville. It was SUCH a beautiful service in this really old-looking chapel on the quaint little college campus. The reception was at the Sheraton downtown in Nashville and we enjoyed getting to visit with my mom's "adopted family." Lauren was so good during the wedding and fell asleep at the reception- despite the insanely loud music that the DJ was playing....this is her looking over Jason's shoulder walking out of the chapel....so cute. Even though it was below freezing, my silly girl didn't want her coat on her shoulders....her little pink cheeks and nose were adorable!

trip to the smokies

We took our first family vacation 2 weekends ago...just Jason, Lauren and me! We stayed in a cabin (pictured above) at the Legacy Mountain Resorts in Pigeon Forge. Now, granted, this "vacation" was only like an hour and a half from our house...but for the first time since Lauren was born, we loaded up the car and got away, just the 3 of us. It was so nice! We spent almost all of our time at the cabin- except for driving down to P.F. to eat and make a stop at the Carter's outlet to buy Lauren some 12 MONTH CLOTHES! The cabin was so pretty and the view was amazing out of the back windows and I totally LOVED the hot tub....we were so sad to leave!! Sunday morning, Jason got his wish....it started to snow as we were getting ready to leave! (too bad we didn't get snowed in!)

Lauren's Scrapbook

So today the UPS man brought me a very happy surprise....the "sweet baby" album (that I ordered like 3 weeks ago and had almost forgotten about) was delivered to my front doorstep. (and why don't they ring the doorbell? they just drop the box and drive away...luckily I was in the living room and heard it) ANYWAY, I am super, super, super excited because now I feel like I can start working on one of my '09 resolutions..... to get Lauren's baby scrapbook completed before she is 1 (and much easier and more fun than my resolution to exercise!!)
I ordered the kit from www.creatingkeepsakes.com for about $45 it includes EVERYTHING (and then some) that you need to make a first year album for a boy or girl....you just add the album. It's so simple! No, I am not making any money from singing it's praises, but if there are any other time-crunched scrapbooking mommies out there, I'm just letting you know that this kit is wonderful! If I were to try to buy all of the paper, stickers, page protectors, etc. that this comes with....we are talking well over $150!! So this is a good deal.....at least that is what I am planning to tell Jason when he asks me why I felt the need to buy something right after Christmas! I will update you on the status of Lauren's album....so far I have just opened the box, taken out all of the little fun pieces inside and just smiled with glee and excitement! I can't wait to get started!! Note to Lauren....take longer naps so mommy can be productive!! :)

Lauren's First Christmas

Lauren's first Christmas was so much fun! My family was able to join us on Christmas morning to watch Lauren "open" all her presents from us, family and Santa! She wore her new Christmas pj's and got so tired from all the excitement that she had to take a nap in the middle and then finish opening presents later! She received so many new "big girl" toys, outfits and even her first pair of New Balance tennis shoes from Aunt Susie.

Christmas in Alabama

The weekend before Christmas we headed to B'Ham to Jeremy and Ashley's new house and celebrated Christmas with Jason's immediate family. We had so much fun! There were children constantly underfoot and into everything between Lauren, Jackson, Alli and Logan, but Christmas is most wonderful through the eyes of a child!
Lauren got so many nice new toys and beautiful new clothes. It was so much fun watching her eyes light up at all of the noise and lights....she, of course, loved the paper and bows more than the actual presents!
