Lauren,
At 16 months, you are so busy, busy, busy! You have realized that there is so much to see and do....and boring things such as diaper changes and eating just slow you down! :)
You are getting so big! (well, tall, anyway!) It seems like everytime mommy turns around, I'm having to pack away another outfit, and your skirts and dresses are all getting too short!
You can still wear a few 18 months outfits, but we are slowly working our way into the 24 months stuff. (most of it is fall/winter...so I'm hoping the weather cools off quickly!)
You are still wearing a size 5 shoe, and a size 4 in disposable diapers, but for the past 2 weeks, we have gone cloth! I think that it will save us so much money over time and I love the way your little bottom looks in those cloth diapers! (although they make it hard to pull those shorts over!)
(Lauren in her pink bumgenius diaper)
You still REALLY LOVE to have books read to you! 1 bedtime story quickly turns into 5-10 stories! Your favorites are the "David" books, anything with lift the flap or "feely" pages and ANY book about animals! You try to make the animal sounds while we read and it's hysterical!
(mostly because horses don't say "woof!" haha!)
You really like the tv, too...so we have to be conscious about limiting the amount that you watch. You watch Dora the Explorer or Diego in the mornings and then sometimes a Praise Baby DVD if mommy has to fix a "complicated supper" (anything that involves cutting, etc.) You also love to watch animal planet because you are pretty much OBSESSED with animals right now.
We took you to the zoo, and you loved all the "small" animals. I think the elephants and giraffes and zebras seemed kind of big and scary to you. Our neighbors have 2 cats and 2 new kittens and you love to look at them everytime we go outside!
(Lauren pointing to the "kitties"... or "itties" as she says!)
(there they are!)
You went to the park today and you have gotten so brave! You don't hold on the momma's leg anymore, and you actually went through the tunnel several times, down the slides 3 times and bounced up and down on the riding toys that you used to be afraid of! Where did this come from?? :)
You still LOVE to be outside...humidity, mosquitos and all. You don't care! You've had a few "meltdowns"when we make you come in to get ready for bed! You also love baby dolls, puzzles and playing with the magnets off the fridge, any kind of beaded jewelry (we watch you closely!) and all kinds of little boxes and containers!
Your eating habits are so irregular! Some days I can't seem to feed you enough and other days, you go on what we call "the starvation diet" where you eat about 2 grapes and a cracker all day long! It keeps us guessing, but we know you are growing and this is part of being a toddler! :)
You also like to "run." Although, you are not really well balanced when you do it! Anytime we say "diaper change" or "eat" you grin and take off running in the other direction...it must be a fun game to you!
You have made daddy and me feel so blessed to share the past 16 months with you! We are so grateful for our healthy, sweet little girl! You bring so much joy to our lives, Lauren Grace!! We can't wait to see what's to come!
