Labor Day activities

Since Jason was off work for Labor Day, we decided to take a little excursion. We packed a picnic lunch and headed for Tellico Plains in search of some waterfalls. (what makes Jason to want to take a 1 year old to see waterfalls, I'll never know :) )

We drove along the Cherhola Skyway and saw lots of beautiful nature-y types things: trees, rocks, rivers, etc.

Jason was in heaven.

Lauren was whining to get out of her car seat, as usual.

I was getting car sick from riding in the back seat on the curvy roads!

We finally stopped and saw the beautiful Bald River Falls. They really were impressive!

Lauren enjoyed looking at the water, but she protested loudly when I tried to stick her feet in the shallow part. (not that I blame her too much, that water was COLD!!)

We found a flat spot to eat our lunch and then did some "rock climbing" (ha!)

What? Jason and Lauren did climb onto that rock! :)

Jason said Lauren was learning to fly fish.

*** DON'T WORRY! Jason's arm is around her waist, under her shirt...he was holding onto her VERY tight!! (that's just a public service announcement for the grandmothers who had a heart attack when they saw the above picture!!) ***

time to head home...

This was Lauren 10 minutes later!

(Yes, that purple bump on her forehead did happen on our excursion...she hit her head on this huge rock and I thought it was going to be a concussion or some kind of huge goose egg at least, but it was just a little bruise and today it's almost gone! Thank God!)

I was wondering what you did for Labor Day, but I would have NEVER guessed that. Lauren was very brave.
