My mother is a former nurse; and as they say "doctors (and nurses) make the worst patients!!" So, she has not been easy to deal with. She thinks that she can put weight on her foot when she can't, and she is currently refusing to stay at my house anymore, saying that she wants to be in her own home. So, now I am having to go by her condo twice a day (in the am and pm) and check on her, plus 1-2 phone calls during the day. I know that she can get around pretty well with her walker and wheel chair, but I am really scared that she will fall and not be able to get up! Plus, she can't cook for herself or anyting like that.
So, that is one exciting bit of news. Also, while my mom was staying at our house, Jason decided to do a little cooking. (guess he thought I had my hands full with Lauren and mom) He made some peas that his parents had brought to us and in the midst of cooking them, created quite a bit of smoke in our kitchen.
About 5 months ago, we had an ADT security system installed in our house. It also includes a smoke detector system that alerts the fire department when it goes off. So, guess what pulled up outside our house 5 minutes later?
Yep, the Athens City Fire Department. Thankfully, they didn't have all their sirens and lights on. (they had heard from ADT- who had called us first- that it was not a fire). Lauren seemed to like looking at the fire truck. And the fireman were really cute. (Hey, I like a man in uniform...what can I say?) :)
I also made the trip to Florida last weekend to throw my little sister's baby shower. Lauren did pretty well in the car, considering it was an almost 7 hour trip for us. I will post pics from the shower soon.
I also had a friend of mine take some pictures of Lauren yesterday. Leighann is staring to get into photography, so she has been doing outdoor "shoots" for the past few months for practice. I will post those pics later on today.
Tomorrow we are going to try to finish up our Christmas shopping! Has anyone started theirs? Mine goal is to be FINISHED before the end of this month!
Happy Friday, everyone!! :)
(and now you know why you haven't heard from me in sooo long! Ha!)
