We've finally moved!

We are finally settled in Owensboro, Kentucky!  We have spent the last few weeks visiting with family, packing, and putting some major miles on my car! :)  We are glad to finally be in our new "home".

Our little duplex apartment with garage...the Tahoe barely fits inside it! :)

I'm not going to pretend that it isn't a HUGE change for us- going from a house to an apartment.  We have literally cut our square footage in half!  But, we know that this is just a temporary solution until our house is sold.  (And we are praying that will happen SOON!)

We are looking forward to the idea of house hunting again...and have decided  that we will NEVER own a 2-story home again if possible! (except "2 story" meaning with a basement underneath!)

There are sevearal things that I like about our apartment....it is all one level and that makes it easy to keep an eye on Lauren while I am cooking, unpacking, etc.  Before, I could be in the kitchen and she might be sneaking up the steps to play in her room! :) Now- the bedrooms are right off the living room- so Lauren can come and go as she pleases.

Another thing that I love about our apartment (although it has taken some getting used to) is our shower.  Our duplex apartment is handicapped-accessible...so the doorways are extra wide and our shower is one that you could roll a wheel chair right into!  It is flat...no standard tub or stall to stepup into.  It also has no door...which is strange.  Jason says it is sort of like a locker room shower!!  Ha!

AND...the kitchen has NO pantry...which I panicked about at first.  However, the cabinets are really deep and hold a lot more than they would appear to at first!  Moving to a smaller space has also made me really think about what "stuff" is most important to us.

I have to say that I miss our king-size bed most of all....but if we had put it in our bedroom at this apartment, there would be no other furniture in the room with it! :)  A queen bed is what we slept on for years after we got married, but once we "upgraded" to a king, it's hard to go back!  And with Jason being 6'7", a king-sized bed is the only one that his feet didn't stick off the end of while he was sleeping!  Oh, well...we will be nice and cozy!

I also love that our apartment has gas heat and is not drafty like our house was!   And instead of mostly wood and tile for flooring like we had before, this aparment has mostly "berber" style carpeting in all the bedrooms and living room and it is so soft and warm!

Well, enough details about the apartment!  We are just thankful that God provided this place for us to live and that we are warm inside with this COLD weather that we have been having.

Here are some more pictures of our adventures lately!!

moving day...Granna pushed Lauren into the back of the empty U-Haul!!

For the record...Jason was the "unloader"..Mr. Jimmy was doing the pushing! :)

Our first meal at our new home...deer meat, mashed potatoes, peas and corn bread.  Yum!

Lauren's new favorite thing...the computer!!
She can climb into the chair all by herself!

While I was unpacking today, Jason and Lauren had a tea party!

These are the guests...elephant, kitty and monkey.
*Notice they are eating tacos, tomatoes and tea cakes.  Lauren picked the "menu!"

That is all that I can catch-up on for now!  I have to go watch Alabama beat Texas!
ROLL TIDE!!!!!!

(I will post picks from Christmas soon!)
