Bible Study and other Thursday happenings

This morning Lauren and I were rushing around in order to leave for Bible study on time.  Let me rephrase that:  I was rushing around and Lauren was taking her sweet time because Dora was on, and she did not want to get dressed, for fear that she might miss a second of her favorite show!

I debated taking her to Bible study in her pajamas.  The debate didn't last very long.  We compromised by Lauren laying on the living room floor where she could still see Dora while I was dressing her.  Whatever.  You gotta pick your battles.

This is my 3rd week of Bible study.  The first Sunday that we visited Owensboro Christian Church, there was an announcement in the bulletin there would be a ladies Bible study beginning the following week.  And they provided child care during the 2 hours each week.  Awesome!!

I have really enjoyed the Beth Moore studiest that I have done in the past, so I was excited to see that they were doing this one:

Who knew that God could be so present in a book of the Bible where HIS NAME is not even mentioned??!! Crazy, huh?!  I won't give away anymore details, in case you haven't done this study and plan to, 'cause it is really good!

Lauren seems to enjoy going to the child care.  There are only about 10-15 kids there total, and they separate them into groups by age.  They take the toddlers and older group into the gym and let them run around.  There is a plastic slide in there that is about 4 feet or so tall.  My child totally climbs up the steps and goes down it by herself!!  Where did this bravery come from?

The first time, she cried when I dropped her off, but she's done better each time.  This week she actually wanted to go play before I had hugged and kissed her goodbye.  The nerve! :)  But the greatest moment came when I picked her up.  I walked in and waved to her across the room.  She lit up, grinned and started saying "mommy, mommy, mommy!"

Now, she has said mommy before.  But not very often.  Usually she just says it when she wants something or is hurt and needs comfort.  But today, she saw me and called me by name and I just melted.  It was so sweet!

And it's funny because Lauren pronounces the "mom" part of "mommy" like "ma'am".  Is she from Broklynn? :)  So it sounds like "ma'ammy, ma'ammy, ma'ammy".  So stinkin' cute!

After we left the church, we went through the Chick-Fil-A drive through and brought lunch home.  I got a phone call from one of my bestest buddies from college, so we got to chat while Lauren happily munched her chicken nuggets and fruit cup.  Yay.

It doesn't take much to make me happy, and today has just been a great day! :)  I also made a rockin' meat loaf tonight for supper, which Lauren and Jason gobbled right up.  I will post that recipe this weekend.

Oh, and notice how far Lauren's crib is from the wall?  I had to take a picture to remind myself because this is where it will probably be positioned for a while.

The past few nights, it has taken Lauren no less than 1 hour to go to sleep. To pass the time, she sticks her little feet throught the crib rails and kicks the dickens out of the wall.  I hear "thump, thump, thump."  "Thud, thud, thump, thumpity-thump."  She is apparently doing morse code to our neighbors.  I don't appreciate it, and I'm pretty sure they don't either!

Sooo...after going into her room twice to tell her to stop, I finally just pulled the crib away from the wall.  Was that the correct parenting thing to do?  Maybe not.  I had told her to stop once, I probably should have laid down the consequences, but I just didn't want the night to end on a bad note.  I willl have to think about this for future reference!!

And last, but certainly not least, Lauren has been enjoying these bunny ears that I bought last year after Easter.

I found them in the closet the other day and she immediately wanted to wear them.

She hops around the house saying "hah, hah, hah" which is "hop, hop, hop."

Watch out Easter Bunny, you've got competition! :)

Hi Sarah - I found your blog through the "So Long Insecurity" Beth Moore Website. I just joined too and was glad to see that joining late was "okay" :P

I have two little ones two and could relate to your story about Lauren kicking the wall and taking forever to go to sleep --- it seems like we haven't slept in 3 years (well slept all night) because of different sleep issues.

Anyway - you sound like a great mom, fun and hoping to "see" you more on the Beth Moore site! Happy readings! :)
