Making Her Mark

I think that I have mentioned that I am doing the "Esther" study by Beth Moore at a church here in Owensboro.  It is a great study, but I am having trouble keeping up with the "homework."  That is really no excuse, because I have 7 days to do only 5 days worth of homework, but we have been so busy lately, it just feels like everything is so rushed.

Sooo... the other morning while Baby K was taking her morning nap, I thought it would be the perfect time to squeeze in one of my "homework" lessons.  Lauren was contentedly coloring (with markers!!) in her high chair at the table already, so I thought that I would just sit at the kitchen table and do my study.

I had my Bible spread out on the left of me (the same side of the table that Lauren was sitting on), my study book in front of me and the baby monitor to my right, so I could listen for Baby K.  (we have a small table, so this all took up a lot of space!)

I was watching Lauren out of the corner of my eye to make sure that she wasn't coloring all over herself, but not keeping a super-close eye on her.  Big Mistake!

I heard her say "boo...boo?"  (which is "book") and so I nodded and said "yes, Lauren you are making a book"  because she had several pieces of paper back to back that she was coloring on.  But when I looked up a few minutes later to really see what she'd been up to...this is what I saw

Eeeek!  Lauren had colored in my "book!"  I didn't realize that she could reach my Bible from her high chair, but sure enough, she asked for permission "boo, boo?"  and I told her "yes, Lauren".  I guess it could have been much worse!

The really kind of "ironic" thing was where she colored.  The Bible I was using is a Women's Study Bible and it has little study topics at the tops/bottoms of pages throughout the text.

Can you make out the writing in the picture above?  (sorry it's blurry!)  It says:
INFLUENCE: MAKING YOUR MARK!

Ha!  Lauren "made her mark" alright!

We had a little talk about this, and I told her that we never write in books (even if mommy says yes!)  :)

But I couldn't really punish her, because it was my fault!

Oh well, lesson learned!  (for me!!)

Sorry about your Bible. : ( However, what a great story with the "making your mark" and all, and it's especially funny that she ASKED! ;-)

That is a great story! I think you have one smart little girl on your hands, who may also like to "study" on some Esther.

Like you, I am having a hard time keeping up with my homework too!
