randomness

We are still snowed in.  Jason went back to work today, but he took my car...so even if we wanted to venture out in the snow (not that we do!) , we couldn't!  :(

I went to the mailbox today to get the mail, and I think that some of my body parts were definately frozen by the time I got back inside.  So, time to thaw out and do a random blog post.

Lauren has been entertaining herself by watching obscene amounts of Dora on Nick Jr.

It's ridiculous.

She has also been climbing inside of every box and basket she can find. Lauren is her name, and hiding is her game!

On Monday, I started babysitting an 8 month old little girl while her parents are at work.  Lauren didn't know what to do with a baby around.  It's pretty funny.

She has also been busy "shopping" in our kitchen.  Apparently, she only bought bottled water on this day.

Last Thursday, we went to Bible Study at church.  Before we left, I said "can you go get your coat, Lauren?"

She grabbed my black "puffy vest" and wanted to put it on....
Of course, I had to take a picture!  (she did NOT wear this to Bible study, BTW!)

I am SOOOO TIRED of snow and cold, so I changed our computer's wallpaper to this scene so I can dream....

Jason and I had "date night" last night and watched "Couple's Retreat".  Wouldn't you know, it's set on a beautiful island off in the carribbean somehwere?  I sooo wanted to go!  haha!! And other than a few "iffy" parts, it was a pretty "clean" movie for the most part.  It's rated PG-13 and was stinkin' hilarious!  Jason laughed so hard he almost choked....twice!  That is a sign of a funny movie in the Colburn house! :)

Lauren has also decided that she really hates to have her diaper changed...it's literally like pulling teeth.  She also has decided that she is too big to sit on our couch or bed, she likes to stand.  (we make her sit!)  But I thought this picture of her was pretty funny!

Her shirt says "gorgeous" and yet she has on no pants...(we had just had a diaper change and she escaped before I could get them back on!)  and she has chocolate all over her chin and her hair is all pitiful looking...
That's my girl! :)

And now I have a moral dilemma.....  I ordered Jason a subscription to Sport's Illustrated for Christmas.  He has LOVED all the Alabama cover issues!! This is probably the only reading (other than his Bible) that he will do.  So...if he enjoys reading S.I. (even if it's a magazine) than I don't mind him getting it.

HOWEVER...there is one little problem with a subscriptioin to S.I.  It includes this-

which was in the mailbox today.

Now, I don't think that Jason particularly needs to be "reading" this swimsuit edition of S.I. (does it even have words?)  But should I just throw it away and pretend it never came in the mail?  Or should I tell him that it came in the mail but I threw it away already?  Hmmm... I am thinking throw it away and apologize later! :)

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!

I say throw it out, because I believe that as Christian wives and mothers it is our responsibility to do our part to protect our husbands and sons from the sins of sexual immorality. No good can come of our husbands looking at such magazines. God wants us to be outside of society. Society teaches us that it is no big deal, and that it is a victimless sin, but who knows better than God (see vs 8 below)? In your Bible study, look at I Thess 4 and then tell him that you threw it out :) You aren't throwing it out because your insecure and wish to control him, you're throwing it out for good reason- it is the Godly thing to do. I see no moral dilemma. I'm sure Jason isn't on pins and needles waiting for it. He is a God fearing man and I'd bet that he won't give it a 2nd thought.

3It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4that each of you should learn to control his own body[a] in a way that is holy and honorable, 5not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; 6and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. 7For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

Manda,
I agree with your wholeheartedly! In fact, Jason would probably throw it out himself (without looking at it!) because as a Christian, he would feel that it was wrong to look at.

I just forgot that the swimsuit edition was part of the subscription and was kinda taken by surprise when I saw it in the mailbox...I was thinking "now what?" :)

Thanks for the advice!
